Last week I mentioned that the spark advance lever has slowly become increasingly difficult to move. So much so that I felt like I was giving the lever a twist with the amount of force it took to move it. The resistance was definitely coming from somewhere in the lever and not in the distributor as that moved freely.
The photos below tell the story, but it was simply a case where the bushings were worn out and 81 years of dirt and dried up grease took its toll. New bushings and a thorough cleaning did the trick. Now it moves freely with very little resistance like it should.
